Get your big bite ready for this garden vegetable breakfast bagel fully loaded with two eggs, havarti cheese & bacon.
One thing I absolutely love is bread.
In any shape, size, or kind. I love bread.
Last weekend when I went camping with my hubs we made these awesome breakfast sandwiches. When I was at the grocery store I saw these Garden Vegetable bagels by Dempsters. They seemed pretty good, so of course, I grabbed them – being the bread freak that I am – have to try!
I grabbed some turkey bacon and I picked up some havarti cheese for a change. I really like havarti. It gives such a great strong taste, which is just perfect for open fire cooked eggs. The cheese didn’t stand a chance to be the King of breakfast, in the end, the bagels totally became king.
Thank goodness for Mark, because if it wasn’t for him I’d still be taking a mini grill camping. He has become quite the cook and can totally man that fire. We eat all our meals on the open fire now when we go camping. It’s quite the difference from when we were younger and actually took our full out BBQ with us.
Even then we made some pretty crazy meals. Usually consisting of cheese, meat and bread….but really when you’re camping, those are the fun eats! Nowadays, I find myself pre cutting fruit snacks, making salads and cutting up veggies for snacking.
I’ll limit to 2 bags of chips…..
Yes, two bags…which usually ends up being eaten by Mark, but believe me we’ve come a long way since we were teens.
Oh those were the days.
Ahhhh, these are sooooo good. Insanely good. The bagels are so good they can probably be eaten alone, without butter, without being toasted….now I think you’re on my page.
3 days in a row we ended up making this breakfast.
Do I need to say why?
You really don’t need an open fire to cook these bagels. It’s super easy to throw these together in the kitchen for a quick lunch or breakfast. Just slap 2 fried eggs, 2 slices of bacon and a slice of cheese together and add your bagel.
….or english muffin….or toast….or eat it without the bread if you want, but if I were you, I’d choose the garden veggie bagels…
I mean, I’ll be for sure buying them again.
- 2 dempsters garden vegetable bagels
- 4 slices turkey bacon
- 2 slices havarti cheese
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp olive oil
- Spray tin foil pans with oil. Crack 2 eggs into each one and cover. Cook for 10 - 15 minutes, or until egg is fully cooked. (this was done on the open fire, which took me about 15 minutes, if you are using a frying pan it may not take that long.)
- Meanwhile, place bacon on non stick tray. Cook until eggs are ready, flipping once. (about 8 mins)
- Slice bagels in half and place eggs on bottom halves. Top with cheese and bacon.
